Why do we celebrate Labor Day?  Some who don’t know may say it is when you celebrate all the mom’s who have “been there done that” if you know what I mean.  Others have no clue, they think it is just a last “hurrah” of summer.  Of course, I know, (living with a union man) it is a day we celebrate the working people of America.  And I salute my husband for working over 30 years as a welder in a factory.  He deserves that one day to sit back, relax and enjoy the day.  Soooo, we had the grandkids overnight!  You talk about “Labor!”  So what did I learn this Labor Day?  See the world through the eyes of a child.  I gave the kids each a shoe box and I said “Let’s hunt for cool things to put in your box.”  So off they went.  What an awesome time to see the world as they see it.  A locust shell hanging from the tree who neither wanted to touch until maw maw did. Yuk!  A pine cone half eaten by a hungry little critter. Assorted leaves, grape, apple, plum, maple.  And a rock.  So let’s add another bit to this scenerio.  But why did the locust leave the shell?  Why did the critter eat half a pine cone?  Why are there so many different leaves?   After all the question asking from these 2 little people, I thought, yeah God, why?  This little adventure made me stop and say “Wow God, You are awesome!”  I need to stop once in a while and smell the proverbial flowers, and see the world from the viewpoint of a child.  It makes me appreciate the world I live in and now I realize why God stood back on the sixth day and said, “Indeed this is very good!”
