Happy New Year!

So here I sit at my desk, a new week a new year and a lot of good intentions.  No New Years resolutions for me.  this year I will call it adjustments!  I am not really one for the word “change”, adjust sounds much less painful.  Let’s see,  adjust my desk so it looks less cluttered, adjust my diet so my pants fit better, adjust the amount of treats I give the dog so she takes up less room on the lap.  Oh ya, and adjust my attitude.  Boy have I heard that a time or two in my life.  I think it came from my mother. 

Let’s be real, we can all use an attitude adjustment once in awhile.  First step, look up adjust in the dictionary.  Ummmm….why didn’t I do that before starting this blog?  ad.just – to bring to a more satisfactory state, to bring the parts of to a true or more effective relative position.  And last but not least, to achieve mental and behavioral balance between ones own needs and the demands of others.  So if you see me in the hall or in the classroom and I look as though I am in la la land, don’t worry, I am just trying to adjust!  I now have an excuse for being a tad “out there”.

It is true, life can be so demanding.  Kids, jobs, laundry, bills to pay, lawn to mow, etc. etc. etc.  So this year I encourage you to adjust your life!  Take some time for yourself in order to achieve mental and behavioral balance.  You’ll be surprised how it will change your outlook on the demands others place on you!
